About the Role

As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Long Beach, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Long Beach, CA Schedule: 6 hours a month Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate: Bilingual in English and Spanish (required) Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, and developmental learning needs Background supporting foundational literacy and math skills at the elementary level Experience working with students who exhibit significant behavioral challenges Familiarity with IEP-based instruction and collaborating with related service providers (e.g., speech and occupational therapy) Skilled in using visual, hands-on, and repetitive instructional strategies Patient, calm, and confident implementing behavior intervention and redirection strategies Ability to create structured, predictable learning routines Teaching credential preferred; however, experienced special education tutors are encouraged to apply Comfortable conducting an academic assessment to determine current skill levels Key Responsibilities: Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current literacy and math skill levels Develop and implement individualized lesson plans aligned with foundational academic needs Provide instruction in early literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and early reading development Support foundational math skills, including number recognition, counting, and basic addition and subtraction Incorporate hands-on and visual learning strategies to improve engagement and understanding Support the student’s learning goal of telling time using repetitive practice and visual tools Implement structured routines and clear expectations to support focus and participation Use behavior intervention strategies, consistent redirection, and positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviors Manage moments of frustration or refusal to work in a calm and supportive manner Reinforce learning through repetition, visual supports, and interactive activities Provide progress updates to caregivers and adjust instruction based on student response Why Tutor Me Education?
