Job description

  • Part time live-out nanny required for a Prospect Heights family with 2 young children starting no later than August 2026.
  • Specific duties to be negotiated with the family, but in general, you will be responsible for all child related duties including providing nurturing care and interacting with their children in an engaging, safe and age-appropriate way.
  • The parents are looking to partner with a new nanny (their current FT nanny is leaving in September) and welcome them into their loving, fun and happy home.
  • The primary focus is to pick up the children from school and provide after school care, including after school activities, dinner and nighttime routines.
  • A physically active candidate who values outdoor time and has energy to sustain busy afternoons with two young children is key to this role!
  • The candidate should be highly organized, naturally proactive and a strong communicator.
  • You will need to be someone who can show initiative and good instincts with daily tasks including managing schedules, transitions and cooking meals.
  • A candidate who is kind, fun, creative but who is also able to set boundaries is essential for this family.
  • Daily meal prep and cooking for the kids is required for this role.

  • Days/times: Guaranteed 30 hrs/week, Monday through Friday, general hours to land between 1pm-8pm (fixed end time of 6 or 8pm - later finish expected once or twice a week and discussed in advance). No travel or weekends expected but availability to travel or provide weekend support is a plus.

Children

  • Two children - one boy (b. 2021) and one daughter (b. 2023)
  • Conditions: $33 - $38 per hour
  • (paid as a W2 employee + all hours over 40hr paid at x1.5 rate) plus unlimited monthly metrocard, sick/personal days, public holidays and at least two weeks paid leave per year. *dependent on experience
  • For further consideration, applicants must possess the following: Authorization to work in the US A well-suited demeanor and experience working with toddlers and school age children (navigating big feelings and maintaining a calm demeanor). Ability to commit for at least for 1 year with the family Exceptional childcare references that attest to strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, maturity and high emotional intelligence Physically able (and interest) in managing 2 children on daily commutes, outdoor play and navigating stairs up to apartment (must be able to carry stroller up 4 steps) Experience and education or equivalent knowledge of ages and stages of early childhood development (particularly for PreK age). Ability to complete all child related duties (including daily meal preparation, cleaning up/tidying/organizing bedroom and play/toy areas, etc) Readiness to help with light housekeeping and house related tasks, like wiping counters, rotating kids sheets, doing the dishwasher and grocery shopping (family does employ a weekly housekeeper for deep cleans) Must be comfortable with dogs (no daily pet related duties expected)
