  • Category: NursePart-time, 10 Months, Faculty, Non-Exempt - $40/hour Key School is seeking a Part Time School Nurse for the 2026-2027 academic year. The Part-time School Nurse will work under the supervision of the Head School Nurse and First School Head and with the support of the First School’s Administrative Assistant provides direct and indirect school nursing services to students, faculty, staff and administration in collaboration with the Head School Nurse.

Duties and Responsibilities

Follows health services and training procedures established by the Maryland State Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene School Center for Immunization, Division of Community Services, and the Child Care Administration; National Association of School Nurses (NASN); Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA); and Key School’s Administrative Committee with the consulting physician. Assists School Nurse in maintaining accurate records: Student Immunizations and Physical Examinations Lead Testing Certificates Medical Alert Lists Daily Health Office Treatment Notes Accidents and Emergencies Medical Emergency Forms Controlled substances accounts and Medication Administration Records Provides resource information to faculty for dealing with specific medical issues Implements federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures to control communicable disease within the school setting Initiates referrals with parents, Division Heads, School Counselor for intervention, remediation, and Follow-through Provides on-going health counseling with students, parents, and school personnel Cover Health Office, as availability allows, in the absence of Head School Nurse. Additional Responsibilities: Provide medical care for injuries and illnesses Manage and dispense medications Communicate with parents, providers and the Health Department (as necessary) Manage medical emergencies Serve as a resource on health issues Assist in preparing medication schedules, collect/pack medications and first aid for Outdoor Education trips QualificationsQualifications Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Maryland Current CPR/First Aid certification Fingerprinting/background check HB486: Employment Verification documentation Work Schedule The standard work schedule is 12 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Alternative days, times and hours may be required at the discretion of the Head Nurse to meet operational needs.
