This role involves assisting the teacher in implementing academic and/or vocational instruction for students individually or in small groups, focusing on the execution of Student Educational Plans. Responsibilities also include creating a supportive learning environment, modeling appropriate behaviors, and safely transporting students as needed.
Candidates must possess an Associate's degree in education, child development, or a related field, or be enrolled in a higher education program leading to such a degree, along with a minimum of five years of experience. A valid driver's license and obtaining a Public Service license with a 'V' endorsement during the initial employment period are also mandatory requirements.

Assists the teacher in the implementation of academic and/or vocational instruction to students individually or in small groups to implement Student Educational Plans. Creates and maintains a supportive learning environment and models appropriate behaviors to assist students in developing appropriate social skills. Safely assists students into and out of school transportation, transporting students to and from school as needed. Assists the teacher in planning of instructional content and activities that are aligned with standards, build on students’ prior knowledge and that provide for appropriate level of challenge for all students. Assists the teacher with ongoing observation and assessment, records instructional and behavioral data, and assists in developing appropriate techniques to reinforce learning. Modifies materials and implements instructional and behavior management strategies for students under the direct supervision of the Special Education teacher.
