Job summary
Leads comprehensive education programs across Labor & Delivery, Mother Baby, and NICU collaboration. Responsible for routine in-services, obstetric emergency mock drills, structured orientation pathways, competency validation, advanced maternal-newborn training, and annual skills fairs.
- Major responsibilities / Essential functions
- Develop structured perinatal orientation programs for new clinical staff.
- Participate in Hospital-wide new employee orientation
- Conduct routine in-services on maternal safety bundles and fetal monitoring.
- Lead mock drills for OB hemorrhage, eclampsia, shoulder dystocia, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Oversee annual competency validation and perinatal skills fairs.
- Provide advanced training in fetal monitoring interpretation and obstetric emergencies.
- Monitor perinatal quality indicators including NTSV rates and hemorrhage response.
- Ensure certification compliance (NRP, EFM).
- Maintain regulatory readiness documentation.

- Reduce preventable maternal complications and associated LOS.
- Support appropriate NICU utilization and discharge efficiency.
- Reduce litigation risk through emergency preparedness training.
Minimum education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Preferred education
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master’s degree in related healthcare discipline preferred.
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of specialty clinical experience required. Prior experience in education, precepting, simulation training, or clinical leadership preferred.
Required licensure/Certifications
Current California RN License required. BLS and ACLS required. RNC-OB or equivalent preferred and required within 6 months of hire
