About the role

Provide support and education to pregnant and parenting families regarding infant and toddler development using research-based models. Develop individualized plans, conduct screenings, and maintain official case documentation to promote school readiness and child health.

GCBHS has an immediate opening for a full-time or part-time Family Support Worker: Parent/ Early Childhood Educator at our Cincinnati office in Price Hill. This position is part of the Every Child Succeeds Program and Help Me Grow Home Visiting which offers voluntary home visits to pregnant and parenting families with children birth through preschool age. This position provides families with necessary resources and skills to raise children who are healthy, happy, and ready to learn. Program goals include improving maternal and child health, preventing child abuse and neglect, encouraging positive parenting, and promoting child development and school readiness.

Support families in helping their children grow, learn, and develop to their fullest potential! Join our multidisciplinary treatment organization as a member of the Child & Family Services division, working with the Every Child Succeeds team.

We can hire at the Senior Specialist level as long as the candidate meets the requirement of two years of related experience. Full and part-time positions available. Eligible for a wide range of benefits & productivity bonuses!

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide support and education regarding fetal, infant and toddler development, and parenting skills using a research-based model and curriculum.
  • Develop and implement individualized and developmentally appropriate plans for each child and family that meets program standards and the family’s needs. This includes assessing the family’s overall strengths and needs, while making appropriate community referrals as necessary.
  • Complete assessments and screenings to aid in working with the families and identifying their strengths/needs.
  • Complete official case notes/documentation.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Child & Family Studies, Human Services, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or closely related field.
  • A valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurable driving record.
  • Experience working with children and families & knowledge of infant and child development. *Community/ In home experience a plus.
  • Ability to work in culturally diverse households and communities
  • High degree of initiative and independent judgement.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive, and solution focused. Must be able to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and create your own schedule- utilizing flexible working hours and the possibility of working from home at times.
  • Ability to develop and maintain consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children and their parents.
  • Open to reflective practice (ie: has capacity for introspection, communicates awareness of self in relation to others, recognizes the value of supervision, etc.)
