• Summary: The JV Girls Basketball Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in leading and managing the school’s basketball program by developing student-athletes’ skills, discipline, and teamwork. The Assistant Coach helps plan practices, instructs basketball fundamentals, and assists with game preparation while promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and student engagement. Essential

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting regular basketball practices
• Teach and develop fundamental basketball skills, including shooting, passing, defense, and game strategies
• Prepare students for games, scrimmages, and competitions
• Models’ sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials,
• and spectators.
• Assist with coordinating game-day activities, including warm-ups, player rotations, and bench management
• Supervise students during practices, games, and team travel
• Promote teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and school pride among team member
• Maintain communication with students, families, and school staff
• Ensure adherence to school policies, athletic regulations, and safety guidelines
• Assist with organizing equipment, uniforms, and practice/game schedules
• Support tryouts and assist with team selection, as applicable
• Other duties as assigned Knowledge Of:
• Basketball fundamentals, strategies, and skill development techniques
• Game preparation and competition standards
• Student supervision and engagement strategies
• School and athletic program policies and procedures Ability To:
• Teach and demonstrate basketball skills and techniques
• Organize practices, games, and team logistics effectively
• Motivate and mentor student-athletes in a team environment
• Communicate clearly with students, staff, and families
• Supervise students in both on-campus and off-campus settings
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured team culture Education and Experience:
• Previous experience as an assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport’s rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques
• Experience working with student-athletes in an educational setting is desirable Work Environment: Work is performed in a school setting, including gymnasiums, basketball courts, and athletic facilities. The position requires after-school hours, with occasional evening or weekend commitments for games and tournaments. Physical Requirements:
• Ability to demonstrate basketball drills and techniques
• Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate during practices and games
