Special Education Teacher, [Extended Content Standards]

The special education teacher coordinates and provides direct instructional programs for special education students, developing and implementing individual education programs (Ieps). They monitor student progress, employ various teaching methods, and maintain a conducive learning environment.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and be eligible for a north carolina professional educator’s license in an exceptional children’s teaching area. Extensive knowledge of instructional practices and state and federal policies regarding students with disabilities is required.
