  • Range: $21.30 - $22.15 HourlyThe Northwest School is an independent day and boarding school. We serve students in grades 6 to 12 on an urban campus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. We provide an interdisciplinary liberal arts education that nurtures compassionate, globally aware and environmentally conscious individuals who find joy in learning and are ready to inspire and innovate in our interconnected world. Northwest fosters a warm, inclusive community dedicated to our school values. We believe that a diverse community enriches our institution, making it more creative and dynamic. The Northwest School is committed to building a faculty and student body that reflects the diversity of the broader society. We strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply. The Northwest School seeks Substitute Residential Advisors to ensure coverage in our Boarding Program, which operates with 24/7 supervision from professional Resident Advisors and Residential Life Coordinators. This position is co-supervised by two Residential Life Coordinators. This support position provides excellent experience working in an educational setting with a culturally diverse boarding program. The Sub RA also provides experience at NWS that could allow a Sub RA to apply with strong experience for a full time RA role. When the Sub RA works a shift, they are always on shift with at least 1 other full-time RA present. Shifts are most concentrated in the afternoon/evening hours on weeknights (2pm-12am) and throughout the day on weekends (8am-12am). We are currently hiring for four support positions, prioritizing candidates who have flexibility to work afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts. At this time we do not anticipate a need for overnight shift support, though candidates who have this availability may be able to be called for these shifts in the future, if interested. This position does not require employees to be on-call for shifts; instead, shifts are offered through both direct digital communication and/or in a group digital communication channel. Sub RAs can claim/accept open shifts as they are posted.

Facilitate a safe, inclusive, and comfortable environment for residents, guests, and fellow administrative faculty (staff), through ongoing interactions with students. Provide front desk coverage, supporting operations that promote the assurance of a safe and secure community such as oversight of front door access. Utilize technology to complete student attendance and shift logs. Assist boarding students with their transition to the Northwest School, living together in a boarding program, and (for international students) the acclimation to the United States. Provide student support in addressing behavioral and disciplinary concerns. Appropriately document and relay information to fellow faculty to support student success. Attend and participate in Boarding Faculty meetings, training sessions, and all school meetings as directed and appropriate related to the scope of this role. Work collaboratively with students, as well as boarding program and school-based colleagues.
