Description of the Position
- (Purpose of the
- Position): To encourage residents of the German Residential Living Community (RLC) to speak German and to provide language and cultural expertise. To assist residents in preparing and hosting cultural activities for students of German. To prepare and lead 2-3 one-hour weekly discussion groups for students enrolled in upper-level German courses. To assist German faculty members with departmental tasks as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
to speak German at all times in the German RLC and to encourage residents to do the same; to help create and present monthly cultural activities hosted by RLC residents; to attend and animate the German Conversation Table (Stammtisch); to work with instructors of upper-level German courses in planning and leading weekly small-group discussion sessions for students enrolled in those courses; to assist German faculty with departmental tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
(Education/Experience/Skills) The student who holds this position is identified by The University of Konstanz (Germany). If no such student is available, the German Department will solicit applications from degree-seeking St Olaf students. The student must have excellent spoken and written German, strong intercultural and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Student must bring creativity and enthusiasm to class discussions and German events, and be an ambassador for the study of German.
