The clinical instructor implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession. This role involves planning clinical experiences, providing direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students, and grading student work in a timely manner.

The nursing process is used in the discussion of health alterations affecting selected life processes.

Students continue their professional skill development as members of the health team.In this role, the clinical instructor:Implements the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system and professionAssumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignmentsPlans clinical experiences for and provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care to an individual or group of individualsEvaluates and provides documented feedback to student on level of performance based on course objectivesIs available for remediation of students as required or neededOrients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of the agency/clinical personnelDevelops and posts written clinical assignments consistent with student's knowledge base, skill competency and individual learning needsGrades homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork and other written work in a timely mannerMay teach didactic course content under supervision of course coordinatorKeeps course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concernsReports to the dean or assistant dean: a course coordinator will also provide direct oversightQualificationsYou are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you have:A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or universityAn unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Kansas.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university and hold an unencumbered professional nursing license in Kansas (an IL license is required before accepting clinical contracts). A minimum of two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse is required, though teaching or precepting experience is preferred.
