Job Title: Clinical Nursing Adjunct

Reports To: Chair School of Nursing

Status: Part-Time, Contract

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Adjunct Faculty/Clinical instructor will supervise patient/client care provided by nursing students (max 8/group) in the clinical agency
  • The Adjunct Faculty/Clinical instructor will collaborate with the agency clinicians to determine appropriate client assignments which aligns with the course objectives
  • The Adjunct Faculty/Clinical Instructor will facilitate optimal student learning experiences, support student development of critical thinking skills, and provide guidance and structure with the acquisition of nursing skills and duties
  • Required to attend the annual nursing faculty meeting and pre-semester course meetings
  • Required to maintain communication with the course coordinator on a regular basis to coordinate the clinical experience with lecture and college laboratory
  • Required to attend the pre-semester orientation/planning meeting at the assigned service agency
  • Selects patient assignments to meet the week's objectives
  • Posts student assignment sheet on nursing unit
  • Delineates the students' assignment with the agency staff
  • Familiarizes the student with selected policies and procedures impacting nursing care in the clinical area
  • Conducts pre and post conferences, as well as monitoring students during the clinical experience
  • Conferences with the students at least twice during the semester: mid-term and end of semester; as well as completes a weekly evaluation on each student.
  • Maintains records on clinical assignments and students' performance each week
  • Guides and supervises students' performance during simulation exercises
  • Follows policy for students who require remediation
  • Evaluates the students' written clinical work
  • Follow guidelines identified in Adjunct Faculty handbook

Requirements

Minimum requirements

  • A Master's degree in Nursing or actively pursuing a Master's degree in Nursing required
  • Master’s degree concentration in Nursing Education or certificate preferred
  • An unencumbered license as an RN in the State of New York
  • At least three years of clinical experience

  • $880-$930 per credit (contract) hour
