Job description
The Summer Camp Assistant Teacher supports Lead Teachers and program staff in providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate camp experience for children. This role assists with daily activities, supervision, and implementation of curriculum while ensuring compliance with Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations.
Positions available
- Full- and
- Part-time positions available between 7:00am-5:30pm.
- Seasonal or permanent positions available.
- Locations include Asbury CDC (3814 Asbury Road) and Saint George School (1612 Bryant Street).

Responsibilities
- and Duties:
- Assist Lead Teachers in planning and implementing daily camp activities (arts, recreation, educational enrichment).
- Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being.
- Help maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive environment.
- Support behavior management using approved guidance techniques.
- Assist with meal/snack distribution and ensure proper hygiene practices.
- Monitor attendance and help with check-in/check-out procedures.
Qualifications/ Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent for Assistant positions.
- Experience working with children in a camp, school or childcare setting preferred.
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum age requirement 18+.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Lifting and carrying of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds
