Job description
Position Summary
Nursing Student Tutor provides students with the academic assistance that will help the student to acquire the knowledge and practice the skills identified in course objectives using varied and appropriate teaching methods. Tutor plans learning activities to meet student needs based on the standards set by policies, legal and other regulatory requirements, and acceptable practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist students in targeted subject areas via individual or group tutoring
- Host workshops on selected topics
- Model and encourage collaborative study strategies
- Create and manage resources for academic assistance
- Provides feedback to the student on grammar & syntax and paper format that includes title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and reference page, including use of APA format.
- Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
- Meet regularly with the supervisor to provide documentation of student academic support.
- Communicates with the Dean/Director of Nursing as necessary to resolve issues or concerns
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications
- Completion of an approved professional nursing education program.
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Successful completion of the NCLEX
- Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs
- A current active unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of NY or a multi-state privilege to practice in NY.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication and analytical skills.
- Competent in personal computer applications: word processing, spreadsheet, database, and email.
- Successful completion of criminal background check and drug screening, required immunizations, current CPR, and HIPAA certifications.
Classification: Non-Exempt
Work Hours: Part-time position, with varying hours daily, including evening/weekend hours
