Minnick Schools is a private special education day school for students with disabilities licensed by the Virginia Board of Education in Roanoke, Grundy, Lynchburg, Harrisonburg, Wytheville, Wise, and Bristol.

EnCircle is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide support in the Minnick Schools to teachers, assistant teachers, educational aides, administrators, other school personnel, and families in Harrisonburg, VA.

Please note

This role requires driving, therefore a "clean driving record" is critical.

  • Minimum education, training, requirements and prerequisites
  • Master’s in special education, behavior analysis, or psychology required.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) required.
  • Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) by the Virginia Board of Medicine or license eligible.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a BCBA with individuals with disabilities and providing training and technical assistance using a coaching model; experience working in a school setting is preferred.
  • Experience providing credential-based supervision to individuals working toward national certification in behavior analysis (i.e., BCaBA, BCBA).
  • Expertise in the field and knowledge of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), experience working in a school setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is preferred.
  • Experience in teaching or providing behavioral and academic support to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience working with children with Autism, Developmental Disability (DD), Intellectual disability (ID) and/or Emotional Disability (ED).
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), classroom management strategies, individual behavior intervention plan development, data collection methods, and positive behavior support strategies required.
  • Valid Virginia Drivers’ License and proof of insurance.
  • Satisfactory Driving Record in accordance with agency standards.
  • Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and complete required paperwork according to agency requirements on a timely basis.
  • Basic computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to observe health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to assist with crisis de-escalation techniques, including physical management, and to obtain certification in First Aid, CPR, and Safety Care.
  • Work schedule - Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:00PM.
  • DRIVING SPECIFIC (The following list may or may not be all inclusive at time of posting):
  • Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years:
  • Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit.
  • Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test.
  • Manslaughter or negligent homicide.
  • Driving after being declared a habitual offender.
  • Driving on a suspended or revoked license
  • Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order.
  • Injuring a person while racing - felony.
  • Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more.
  • Emergency vehicle violation - death.
  • Vehicular assault or willful stopping, impeding, or damaging a vehicle.
  • Blocking access to the service facility.
  • Attempting to elude police.
  • Operating an unsafe vehicle.
  • Vulnerable Road User – Death.
  • Must not have any of the following violations within the last 3 years:
  • Passing a stopped school bus.
  • Careless driving.
  • Three or more minor moving violations within the last three years.

Specific duties and responsibilities

Essential Functions

May be required to perform any of the following duties:

  • Provide credential-based supervision to individuals seeking national certification in behavior analysis (i.e., BCaBA, BCBA.)
  • Coach, monitor, and provide performance feedback to
  • Behavior
  • Specialists on:
  • Assessing the classroom environment and student behavior.
  • Identifying and implementing environmental modifications and behavior intervention strategies to promote desired behaviors.
  • Completing functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and writing behavior intervention plans and protocols.
  • Training staff to implement behavior intervention plans and protocols and providing follow-up monitoring to ensure fidelity of implementation.
  • Completing behavior intervention plan reviews/updates.
  • Presenting assessment results, proposed behavior intervention plans, and behavior intervention plan reviews/updates to IEP teams.
  • Coaching staff to implement evidence-based behavior analytic strategies and behavior protocols and to collect accurate data.
  • Implementing competency-based staff training system.
  • Creating and delivering trainings, in-services, and workshops.
  • Provide behavior analytic services to contracted providers (e.g., student/classroom consultations; FBAs; and/or BIP development, training, and monitoring.)
  • Provide consultation and training pertaining to the use of behavior analytic strategies through in-services, workshops, technical assistance, and coaching.
  • Oversee classroom coaches and implementation of competency-based staff training.
  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.
  • Train staff on implementation of BIPs and provide follow up monitoring to ensure fidelity of implementation.
  • Review incident reports as requested.
  • Assist teachers in conducting skill assessments (e.g., ABLLS-R, AFLS, etc.) and selecting IEP goals based on assessment results.
  • Collaborate with teachers to select evidence-based teaching strategies for IEP goals and other skills targeted for acquisition and to develop appropriate teaching materials.
  • Review and provide feedback on skill acquisition plans for IEP goals and other skills targeted for acquisition.
  • Assist teachers in developing data collection systems and in collecting, graphing, analyzing data.

Requirements
