The Assistant Group Supervisor at Learning Lighthouse Child Development Center will be responsible for supervising the children in their care while also assisting the Lead Teacher and Group Supervisor in managing the classroom. The number of children for which the Assistant Group Supervisor will be responsible will vary based on placement, accommodating operational needs as required.

Leadership

Assuming responsibility for the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher or Group Supervisor.

Supervision

Implementation of DPW rules and regulations within assigned classrooms. Assist in the supervision of children and helping children adjust, learn, and socialize.

Teaching

  • Assisting the Lead Teacher or Group Supervisor in implementing lesson plans into daily activities, focusing on learning, play, and kindergarten readiness skills as outlined by the childcare facility.

  • Maintenance: Maintain daily records of daily observations, activities, meals served, and medications administered.
  • Classroom
  • Duties: Assisting the Lead Teacher or Group Supervisor in supervising students, implementing lesson plans, creating crafts, and communicating with parents.
  • Other
  • Duties: Perform other duties as assigned that pertain to the specific classroom. (ie..bottle feeding, diaper changing, stroller walks, etc..)
  • Knowledge/Skills
  • Required: Entry-level teaching skills. Strong leadership. Ability to uphold strict confidentiality standards. Knowledge of child development and behavior management techniques. Entry-level knowledge of DPW regulation and an entry-level knowledge of Keystone Stars. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with children.
  • Qualifications (Education
  • Requirements/Experience): High School Diploma. No experience is needed, but 2 years working with children is preferred. Demonstrated agreement with the stated mission, philosophy, values, and goals of Learning Lighthouse.
  • Current and/or ability to obtain the following clearances: Child Abuse, State Police, FBI Fingerprinting, National Sex Offender Registry and Mandated Reporter for Child Abuse. Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the first 90 days of hire.

Requirements

Work Environment: This role involves working in a classroom within a childcare facility, requiring the use of standard childcare and office equipment.
