The position

A classroom assistant helps teachers with classroom tasks and management. Your goal is to enable teachers to focus solely on educating students. As a classroom assistant, your duties include working with children who need extra attention, correcting student work, and performing various clerical tasks. You may prepare equipment or activities based on the teacher’s lesson plan. You may be asked to supervise children in the classroom, hallways, and/or outside.

Essential duties

Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards to maintain a safe and clean environment Assisting Teachers in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment Recording and reporting a pupil’s progress to the Teacher Helping pupils stay focused during class hours Supervising group activities, recess, dismissal or start-of-school day, cafeteria, and field trips Helping Teachers manage student behavior Looking after children, unwell or upset Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for children Additional duties assigned by the principal

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent qualification Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred A minimum of 2 years of experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
