Middle School Social Studies Teacher

• Description Middle School Social Studies Teacher Bishop Hogan Memorial School in Chillicothe, Missouri is seeking candidates for a full-time middle school teacher with an emphasis on social studies for the 2026-2027 school year.
• Classroom instruction in other subjects may be assigned.
• The teacher fulfills the mission of the Catholic Church by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of students within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum.
• The teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth.
• The teacher has decision-making responsibilities in keeping with school policies and the Diocesan Administrative Manual.
• The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.

Requirements

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.
• Be a role model of Christian love, faith, truthfulness and virtue.
• Manage the class by setting clear expectations of behavior, establishing reasonable routines, and promoting self-discipline based on Catholic principles.
• Perform a variety of duties as assigned by Administration.
• Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, sound judgment, dress, enforcing diocesan and school policies and general behavior.
• Assess and monitor student progress.
• Promote positive relationships and effective communication with all staff, parents and students.
• Prepare and implement effective lessons using the diocesan standards.
• Be an active member of a faith community. Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred, but not required.

Qualifications

• A Bachelors degree in Education from an accredited university
• A valid teaching certificate
• Trained in Protecting God's Children or willing to be trained.
• Ability to utilize technology for instruction and learning.
