Job description

Position Overview Calvary Christian Academy (CCA), a ministry of Calvary Christian Center, is committed to pursuing academic excellence with eternity in mind. Our mission is to equip students both academically and spiritually, raising up Christ-centered leaders who are prepared to fulfill God's purpose for their lives.

  • The Paraprofessional serves as an academic and spiritual support within the classroom, working alongside teachers to address the individual educational, emotional, and spiritual needs of students.
  • This role is primarily student-facing — the majority of time is to be spent directly supporting students academically, emotionally, and spiritually, with clerical duties serving as a secondary responsibility.
  • Key Responsibilities Provide direct instructional support to students individually and in small groups, following lesson plans and directions provided by the classroom teacher.
  • Work cooperatively with teachers and school staff to observe, gather data on, and support individual student performance and progress.
  • Assist in constructing and implementing instructional materials, home learning activities, and parental support resources as directed by the teacher.
  • Maintain a proactive presence in the classroom — when a task has not been assigned, independently engage with students or student groups to provide academic support rather than remaining idle.
  • Assist with administering and participating in student performance assessment frameworks, including MAP assessments.
  • Maintain the proper use, care, and safe custody of classroom materials and equipment, ensuring regular service and maintenance as needed.
  • Oversee students in the Aftercare Program daily.
  • Attend specials with the class unless a conflicting assigned duty or lunch period applies.
  • Provide Christ-centered guidance and advice to students on educational, social, and spiritual matters, and refer students to appropriate resources or personnel when more specialized support is needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all student and staff information at all times.
  • Refer parent concerns or questions to the classroom teacher or administrator — do not independently address unknown parent inquiries.
  • Maintain good order, discipline, and student safety at all times while under your care.
  • Participate in all staff professional development days, in-service training, and the annual FLOCS training conference.
  • Actively participate in school spiritual life, including chapels and assemblies.
  • Participate in required school and ministry events, including but not limited to Orientation, Open House, Parent-Teacher Conferences, CCA commencement exercises, at least one CCC event as determined by administration, and the CCC Easter Event.
