Job description

Overview

The Summer School Teaching Intern position is designed for motivated college juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in education who are seeking hands-on classroom and residential experience in a dynamic summer boarding school environment. Interns work closely with experienced educators through a structured, gradual release of responsibility model while actively participating in all aspects of student life.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Assist lead teachers with daily classroom instruction and activities
  • Plan and deliver lessons under the guidance and supervision of an experienced educator
  • Independently teach an elective course aligned with program needs and intern interests
  • Participate in a gradual release of responsibility, taking on increasing leadership in classroom planning, instruction, and management
  • Write lesson plans and reflect on teaching practice, guided by an experienced teacher
  • Serve as a student advisor, helping guide students’ academic progress and personal development
  • Participate in dorm duty, contributing to student supervision, safety, and community life
  • Organize, supervise, and actively participate in weekend and weekday extracurricular and recreational activities for students
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a teaching and residential life team
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Uphold program expectations, policies, and professional standards
