- ROLE Title/Position: Leader in Training Educator Reports to: Leadership Academy Director Location: Camp Harbor View, Long Island, Boston MA (ferry transportation provided) Hours:
Seasonal, Monday through Thursday; June 18th- August 21st; 8: 15 am to 4:45 pm
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver culturally relevant and engaging curriculum; Oversee the safety of a group of high school-aged youth, following the set schedule to ensure timely transitions and regularly taking attendance to ensure all LITs are accounted for; Supervise LITs and use positive behavior guidance throughout the day, including transportation to and from field trips, during morning announcements, at lunch, and at all special events; Identify LITs who may need additional support, informing the LIT coordinator and referring LITs to the appropriate leadership, including Youth and Family Support staff, in a timely manner to ensure LITs have access to resources that will allow successful participation; Maintain cleanliness of all spaces, encouraging LITs to claim responsibility for their belongings and to have pride in the camp’s facilities; Serve as a positive role model for campers, Leaders in Training (LIT), and peers; Support the three main areas of focus for the Leadership Academy; post-secondary planning, social emotional learning and leadership development. Support the development and growth of a positive camp culture by providing additional support to LITs and colleagues as needed and at community-wide events, including, but not limited to, performances, lunch, and field trips; and Other duties that support the Camp Harbor View community as specified by the Program Manager and year-round leadership.
Qualifications
20+ years of age; At least 1 year experience working with youth; Interest in youth development principles; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Ability to be adaptable in a quickly changing environment; Ability to accept constructive feedback and coaching; and Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
