Job Description

Job Title: BSP Coordinator Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00am-8:00am Supervisor: Program Director Job Summary The primary role of the Before School Program Line Staff is to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students through facilitating quality programming. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising elementary age students, organizing and implementing engaging activities or games, academic assistance, and preparing students for their transition to the regular school day. The BSP Coordinator must have the ability to establish authority through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience. Enthusiasm, dedication, and the ability connect with children are key qualities essential for staff in order to foster the social, emotional and academic growth of all students in program. Skills Needed Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to lead and motivate students to actively participate in program activities Patience, understanding and empathy when dealing with the sensitive needs of children Flexibility with the ability to adapt to changes and open to new ideas and approaches Ability and aptitude to make decisions within established policies Passion for working with children Responsibilities and Duties Actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times. Responsible for designated group for duration of program Promote a safe, positive and engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for youth. Establish a student-centered program that considers the needs and interests of all students. Support the exploration of interests and the development of skills, mastery, and creativity. Support youth leadership development. Build a working relationship with school day teachers and work to extend the regular school day in the after-school program. Give guidance and counsel to program/site staff when appropriate and keep all pertaining records. Ensures age-appropriate conversation among members and staff; promote good manners and encourage common courtesies among members and staff. Maintains cleanliness in all program areas; assist with the setup and breakdown during program day to contribute to ongoing maintenance in an effort to keep the school or community site clean and orderly Serve as a positive adult role model for students in the program through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy. Pay Rate $20.00 per hour

Required Credentials Receive Department of Justice background clearance Negative TB within past 4 years High School Diploma or GED Passing of the proficiency test or 48 college credits. The proficiency test will be scheduled and administered in the main office prior to the initial onboarding process Preferred Credentials Experience and/or training in a closely related employment position preferred Bilingual a plus
