Job description
This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Nottingham Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications
- Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
- Special Education endorsement in emotionally disturbed.
- Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
Experience
- Proven capacity to provide academic instruction to students based on state and district curriculum standards by:
- conducting assessment and evaluation of students’ abilities and needs.
- maintaining students’ progress records and reports in a timely manner.
- modifying the general education curriculum for students with disabilities, based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
- Established competence to maintain cooperative working relationships with parents, staff, and other school personnel by:
- maintaining effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff, other school personnel.
- providing active leadership and direction when attending various school and student related meetings.
- conferring and collaborating with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons to promote learning in both the general and special education settings.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability to establish a learning environment that reinforces appropriate student behavior by:
- developing and modifying instructional activities to meet students’ individual IEP goals.
- monitoring students’ behavioral and instructional progress through the collection of data.
- practicing assessment methods, techniques, and tools for students with emotional disturbance.
- applying principles and methods of positive behavior intervention and support.
- establishing and maintaining behavioral management system for students to be used in both the general and special education settings.
Salary: Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule
