Position Title

ESOL Teacher Division: Learning, Performance, and Strategy Services/School Reports To: Principal or Designee FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Schedule: Teacher Work Days: 190

Essential Duties

1. Provide appropriate instruction and educational services in ESOL to assigned students according to the guidelines of the program and through the established delivery model for service. 2. Seek opportunities for professional development and enrichment in the teaching and learning of second languages, particularly English as a Second Language. 3. Develop, implement, monitor, and assess the English Language Proficiency of each identified ELL and ELL-M student. 4. Maintain prompt and professional communication with parents in all aspects of their child's English Language Services. 5. Complete designated procedures for students referred for ESOL service and Title III services. 6. Compile, maintain, and submit all required records and paperwork by the required deadlines. 7. Serve as a resource and work collaboratively with the general education teachers who teach students with limited English proficiency. 8. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate in ESOL or an ESOL endorsement with appropriate content. 2. Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community. 3. Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation. 4. Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators. 5. Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work. 6. Ability to be present at the physical worksite. 7. Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting. 8. Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. 9. Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations. 10. Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
