  • SUMMARY: The function of childcare staff is to supervise children within Generations Childcare and assist with activities, meal times, pick-up/drop-off, and other routine childcare needs.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities. Is moving about and/or playing directly with the children. Is dressed appropriately for all indoor and outdoor activities. May help design daily lesson/activity plans and help to implement the daily lessons. Assist other staff with activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. Keep records of children's progress, routines, and interests. Relaying needed information to parents. Assists with serving meals. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with all families.   • REQUIRED: Be at least 18 years of age. At least one year of experience in childcare or a related field (such as babysitting). CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date. Typical requirements before working directly with the children include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for staff, Mandated Reporter training; Shaken Baby Syndrome; Sudden infant death syndrome; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; complete a Tuberculosis test and a physical and provide documentation of all. Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards, pass the criminal history background and fingerprinting process and completion of Thornapple Manor program specific certifications or training. Ability to assist, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
