About The Opportunity Field House Brooklyn is seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and nurturing Early Childhood Sports Coach to lead fun, age-appropriate athletic activities for children ages 3–5. The ideal candidate understands early childhood development and is passionate about building a positive foundation for lifelong physical activity and teamwork. This is not about competition — it's about movement, joy, and confidence.

- Coach you'll be expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging, structured sports sessions tailored to the developmental needs of toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3–5).
- Introduce fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, balancing, throwing, and catching through games and activities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where every child feels welcome and celebrated.
- Adapt activities to accommodate varying skill levels, attention spans, and physical abilities.
- Maintain active supervision and ensure the physical safety of all participants at all times.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding their child's progress, participation, and enjoyment.
- Set up and break down equipment before and after sessions.
- Follow all organizational policies related to child safety, including appropriate background check requirements.
- Collaborate with program coordinators and fellow staff to maintain a cohesive and positive program culture.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children ages 3–5 in a coaching, teaching, childcare, or recreational setting
- Strong understanding of early childhood physical and emotional development
- Ability to lead and manage groups of 6–10 children while maintaining engagement and structure
- Patient, empathetic, and able to meet each child at their individual level while advancing curriculum goals
- Skilled in positive reinforcement — motivating through encouragement rather than pressure
- High energy and enthusiastic with the ability to create a playful, inclusive environment
- Reliable and punctual with a professional demeanor and consistent attendance
- Ability to remain calm and positive in a fast-paced, high-energy setting
- Adaptable — able to adjust plans in real time based on the needs of the group
- Excellent communication skills with both children and adults, including parents and caregivers
- CPR and First Aid certified, or willing to obtain prior to start date Preferred
- Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Kinesiology, Physical Education, or a related field
- Experience in one or more youth sports (soccer, gymnastics, swimming, t-ball, etc.)
- Youth coaching certification Schedule
- Typical schedule: Weekday mornings/afternoons and/or weekend sessions. Consisting of classes, camps, birthday parties and events
- Part-time or seasonal positions available; full-time opportunities may be available for the right candidate.
