Job description

Position Summary

Responsible for providing Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification and re-certification classes and other courses to meet needs of nursing and support staff at IVHD and the community. Collaborates with Departmental Nurse Educators, Nursing Directors and Director of Training & Development to assist with educational opportunities for District staff.

Essential Functions

  • 1.
  • Provides informative classes that promote a positive learning experience.
  • 2.
  • Plans, organizes, and evaluates learning of participants.
  • 3.
  • Participates in community events and/or classes promoting health.
  • 4.
  • Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers as needed 5.
  • Acts as a resource to the Director of Training & Development, staff, and community participants for AHA matters.
  • 6.
  • Provides courses to the District staff as needed and authorized by the Director of Training and Development.
  • 7.
  • Maintains District’s equipment used for training in accordance with AHA standards and local maintenance procedures.
  • 8.
  • Performs other job duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 1.
  • Current license as Registered Nurse in the State of California required.
  • 2.
  • Current certification as an Instructor the AHA courses: BLS, ACLS & PALS 3.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • 4.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • 5.
  • Must have a working knowledge in word processing, presentations and electronic media.

Physical Requirements

1. Visual and hearing acuity pertinent to conducting teaching sessions, providing hands-on experiences and demonstrating equipment.

1. This position requires flexible hours according to educational offerings available and other department activities.
