  • Type: Part Time Position Purpose A Substitute Teacher, or Sub, teaches and supervises students if their regular teacher is unable to lead class. Essential Functions and Duties
  • Foster a classroom environment in accordance with the school’s mission: To provide a holistic college preparatory education in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment. Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff in accordance with school policies. Ensures adequate supervision to assure the spiritual development, health, welfare, and safety of all students. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Reports to the office upon arrival at school for substitute duties, requirements for the day, and checkout keys, badge, and laptop if applicable. If applicable, return keys, badge, and laptop issued to the office at the end of each day. Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as possible. Implements provided lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner, which motivates students to learn and participate. Organizes students for effective instruction. Dismisses all students from the classroom before leaving the building. Participates in dismissal duties of the regular teacher. Submits notes to the regular classroom teacher reporting on the day’s activities. Collects students’ papers at the end of each day. Ensure classroom is locked and secure at the end of each day. Returns instructional materials, equipment, and keys to the proper place. Long-term substitutes will develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher’s past lesson plans. In addition, substitutes may be expected to attend regular staff meetings. Adhere to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and trainings. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the school. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience working with children in an educational setting. Demonstrated organizational and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Google. Serve as a Christian role model. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Use close and distance vision. May stand for extended periods of time. Works primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment. Lift to 30 lbs. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written). Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude. Ability to remain productive and maintain control under stress. Ability to maintain a clear focus on a positive student experience. Part-time, seasonal position. Regular substitute pay is $90.00/day and $45.00/half day. Long-term substitute pay is $100.00/day and $50.00/half day. Substitute jobs are accepted by the substitute through Liberty’s substitute system. Refer to Substitute Handbook for schedules. Qualifications
