About the role

Assist special education teachers in providing individualized instruction and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs). Monitor student progress, participate in behavior intervention strategies, and help maintain a positive classroom environment.

Teacher Assistant – KVC Academy Cuba - Day Treatment Program

Pay

  • $18.00-$21.65 per hour
  • Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 7:30
  • AM-3:30 PM

Make a Difference Every Day

KVC Academy is seeking compassionate and dedicated Teacher Assistants to support students with special educational and behavioral needs. In this role, you'll work alongside teachers and clinical staff to create a positive learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

What You'll Do

Support students in the classroom and during daily activities.

Assist teachers with instructional and behavioral interventions.

Help implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Monitor student progress and maintain documentation.

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and meet one of the following requirements:
  • Passed the ParaPro Assessment and can provide certification; OR
  • Completed the Missouri 20-Hour Substitute Certificate Program and possess, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a valid Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate; OR
  • Completed at least 36 college credit hours and possess, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a valid Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate.

Note

Employees required to obtain a Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate must do so within 60 days of hire. Failure to obtain certification within this timeframe will result in separation of employment in accordance with Missouri requirements.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to remain calm and effective in challenging situations.

Commitment to fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

Valid driver's license.

Ability to read, understand, and apply policies, procedures, and written instructions.

Ability to write routine reports and maintain accurate documentation.

Basic math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, and measurements.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment when carrying out written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or coursework in education or a related field.
  • Experience working with children in educational, behavioral health, or social service settings.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, Autism Spectrum Disorder, emotional and behavioral disorders, and child development.
