The World Language Department believes students should be global citizens by integrating the world language standards developed by the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages. Responsibilities

Teach Spanish to upper school students, using a proficiency-based instructional approach Invest in the life of the school by serving as an Upper School advisor, and participating in department meetings, team meetings, teaching and learning training, and any and all aspects that support the student experience. Employ a variety of teaching methods including individual and small group instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and backgrounds. Encourage an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them with a global perspective. Provide tutorials as necessary for students in need of extra academic support. Communicate regularly with parents of students including conducting conferences. Identify student needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Maintain a positive attitude and conducts oneself professionally including discretion, judgment, and integrity with respect to students, faculty, parents and the community Collaborate with Department members for the advancement of the World Language program and of student achievement. Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS: Ability to positively contribute to a team environment and to our school community Knowledge of and ability to support students’ social, emotional, physical and intellectual development Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with all constituents. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Effective classroom management skills Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines set by the Director Maintains a healthy sense of humor QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Spanish required; Coursework in education is preferred 3 or more years of classroom teaching experience and a teaching license in Spanish preferred
