About the role

The school counselor will work effectively with staff and parents to support student needs. They are expected to collaborate with special and general education teams while maintaining strong classroom management.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
  • Counseling endorsement.
  • Elementary Education endorsement.
  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.

Experience

• Experience working with students on the elementary level.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with principal, staff and parents.
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member with special education and general education staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to compromise.
  • Good initiative, flexibility, dependability and organizational skills.
  • Strong sense of professionalism.
  • Strong classroom management skills.

Salary

• Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule.

Candidates must hold or be eligible for Virginia licensure with counseling and elementary education endorsements. Experience working with elementary-level students is required.
