Position Summary

The Student Wellness Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations and organization of the WU-Moves Community Wellness Program. This person will help low-income clients develop and maintain healthy wellness behaviors. The Wellness Assistant should have excellent communication and customer service skills, familiarity with health screenings, knowledge of nutrition, exercise prescription, cultural awareness, and behavior change.

Essential Functions

  • Educate and guide clients through their individualized programs
  • Implement standards of wellness, exercise, nutrition and health
  • Provide accurate documentation concerning client participation
  • Lead and instruct exercises and exercise classes
  • Assist in creating personalized wellness plans for clients
  • Assist with data collection for program evaluation and scholarly research
  • Oversee the wellness center to ensure it is operated in an organized, safe, and productive manner

Non-Essential Functions: Data entry and web page development

Required Qualifications

Washburn University student in the field of Kinesiology, Nursing, or related Experience working with various computer softwares to include, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of nutrition concepts and ability to review a food record chart and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Understanding of exercise principles and ability to perform basic health and performance assessments.
  • Exhibits positivity, enthusiasm, and displayed professionalism.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Current First Aid and Adult CPR Certification
