PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Athenian School seeks a dedicated assistant dorm head to collaborate with our residential team to provide supervision, wellness and academic support, and disciplinary structure for the boarding community. This person will cultivate a sense of community with students, address student issues and concerns, and oversee student safety outside the academic day and on weekends, including on-call duties on rotation. This person will also lead programs within our residential curriculum such as character education, community building, academics, leadership, recreational, and cultural activities. Responsibilities include promotion of dorm pride, participation in all residential community events, assisting in opening and closing of dorms, serving on weeknight and weekday duty, and offering additional student support. In addition to these responsibilities, assistant dorm heads have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Successful candidates will demonstrate a clear commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to support students from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences as they engage with the boarding community. They will model flexibility, a mission-aligned approach to supporting student growth and strong initiative. They will possess the ability to collaborate effectively with students and colleagues, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of and appreciation for working with adolescents. We also seek candidates with a high school degree or higher and experience leading dormitory life. BENEFITS, COMPENSATION, PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Athenian provides excellent benefits and salaries are competitive and commensurate with work experience and education. The hourly rate for this role falls between $25.00 – $30.00/hour. Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center. All employees participate in school wide professional development, and have the opportunity to pursue a range of additional professional growth opportunities. These include, but are not limited to, funded participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities. Athenian provides needed training for CPR/AED certification. All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
