About the role

The student will assist instructional design teams by reviewing course materials for grammar, clarity, and formatting consistency. They will also perform basic accessibility checks and assist with routine iPad maintenance tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, UTMB Student enrolled at least half time. Job Summary: Federal Work-Study students in this role will assist instructional design and academic support teams by reviewing course materials for grammar, spelling, clarity, and formatting consistency. Students may also support basic accessibility checks to help ensure course content is usable by all learners and assist with routine iPad maintenance. This position provides hands-on experience in academic editing, digital content review, and accessibility best practices in higher education. Job Duties: Review course materials (documents, slides, and online content) for: Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity Consistent formatting and layout Provide written feedback or suggested edits using established guidelines Assist with basic accessibility checks, such as: Verifying heading structure Checking readable font styles and sizes Identifying missing or unclear alternative text for images Follow provided checklists and templates when reviewing materials Communicate questions or issues clearly with supervisors Maintain confidentiality of course and instructional materials Assist with routine iPad maintenance tasks, including verifying required apps are present and updated, following provided instructions Performs other related duties as required Marginal or Periodic Job Functions: Performs other related duties as required. Working Environment:
  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment that includes both on-site and remote work responsibilities.
  • Regular participation in virtual meetings, collaboration sessions, and online training activities is required. Occasional in-person attendance for meetings, training, team collaboration, and other business-related activities may also be required.
  • The employee must be able to maintain productivity and communication while working independently in a remote setting. Technology Requirements:
  • The employee must be able to effectively use a personal computing device (PC, laptop, or approved mobile device) to perform assigned job duties.
  • Proficiency in using web-based applications, email, and video conferencing platforms, is required.
  • The employee is responsible for maintaining reliable internet connectivity and a work environment that supports confidential and secure business operations when working remotely.
  • All use of personal computing devices must comply with organizational information security, privacy, and data protection policies.
  • The employee must be able to troubleshoot basic technology issues and seek technical support when necessary.

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience. Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the vice president for human resources and employee services.
