  • Range: $17.00 - $19.00 HourlyThe Assistant Swim Team Coach/Coach 1 at the YMCA of the Jersey Shore will carry out the workouts set forth by the Head Coach or Coach 2 or 3, correct and instruct all stroke and drill methods used by team, attend any or all dual meets, Invitational meets and Championship meets that is on the official team calendar. In addition, a Coach 1 is responsible to carry out additional tasks set forth by the Head Coach and/or the supervising Coach 2 or 3 that may be needed in order to meet the needs of his/her job, that contributes to the goal of maintaining a successful YMCA competitive swim program.
  • Please note: We are also recruiting for Coach 2 or Coach 3 level positions based on years of experience and certifications as a swim team coach. Instruct a group of swimmers in accordance with YMCA guidelines and practice plans under the guidance of Head Coach or higher level Coaches Provide positive, encouraging and specific feedback with regard to stroke technique Build effective, authentic relationships with swimmers and parents Utilize equipment appropriately with activities and incorporate skill development Maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas Assist in competitions in all levels of events Qualifications Minimum age of 18 Knowledge of competitive swimming Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding preferred YMCA Coaches Safety Training required CPR and First Aid required Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions Builds rapport and relates well to others In addition, a Coach 1 will have 30 days to acquire and maintain their certifications required to coach a YMCA and USA swim team in New Jersey. This will include but not be limited to Red Cross or YMCA, Coaches Safety Training, ASCA Level I coach, CPR, First Aid, but is encouraged to enroll and pass ASCA Level’s II and III coach. A Coach 1 will have 6 months or the next available date to complete their Principles of YMCA Swimming course. A coach must meet the above time table for certifications to be eligible for continued employment. No Coach 1 will be allowed on the pool deck alone without the proper certifications.
