Hattiesburg - Hattiesburg, MS 39401Job Summary The Student Success Coordinator position is a full-time, twelve-month position. Under the supervision of the Student Success Center Director, the Coordinator is responsible for advising students, managing the university’s tutoring program, and helping students successfully complete their college degree. The Student Success Coordinator must be able to make independent decisions regarding the administration of the tutoring staff. The coordinator must exercise discretion in the advisement of assigned students. This position helps to promote a positive and successful experience for William Carey students to assist with the department’s goal of increasing student retention and graduation rates

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the university in implementing the statement of purpose Assist the university in implementing the long-range institutional financial plan Advise undecided, probation, and Free Throw students Coordinate testing for the residual act program Supervise tutors Monitor and submit tutoring time sheets and prepare for payroll Schedule and document sessions with advisees to discuss academic, career, and personal needs Provide mid-term and end-of-term academic visits with advisees, as well as intermittent needed intervention for students at risk of academic failure Build relationships with students to encourage student success and engagement Proactively reach out to students identified as at risk, including but not limited to, poor attendance or consistent tardiness, low participation or motivation, academic standing, course completion, and gaps in student success skills Assist with departmental workshops, events, and academic coaching as needed Assist with the annual evaluation of the effectiveness of the Student Success Center Other job-related duties as assigned QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Demonstrate good academic advisement skills Ability to use common office productivity software, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to exercise good organizational skills Ability to multitask and deal with a variety of situations and people

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling, or similar fields Higher education experience Physical Demands Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment Ability to maintain required office hours and perform duties in an on-campus setting
