Substitute Teacher General Responsibilities
To work in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, aiding students in their daily tasks, and helping ensure the understanding of the subject matter being taught. Duties and Expectations Report to the school office to pick up required materials and assignment for the day. Carry out the program of study outlined in the lesson plans. Ensure adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare and safety of all students. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students. Manage the classroom and communicate to students the standards of conduct expected. Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses and discipline problems to the appropriate authority in a timely manner. Take attendance in accordance with the school procedures. Be positive and respectful in all interactions with students and school personnel. Maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Comply with the rules and expectations of the district and school. Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning staff, students and/or parents/ guardians. Perform all other related duties as assigned by the building administrator(s) in accordance with the school and district practices.
