Job description
Summary of position function
Directs the coordination of dorm maintenance and inventory to ensure safe, clean and orderly dorms. Provide assistance with the facilities and the logistics of the dorms by monitoring and addressing changes in real time.
Major duties and responsibilities
Monitors the dorm facilities and the student use to ensure accountability of students that are present for duty on center.
Provides assistance and guidance to students in assigned dorm on independent living skills when living on their own.
Monitors student activity in the dorm and ensure appropriate student actions.
Directs students and may assist during maintenance and clean-up of dorms and dorm facilities.
Provides students with training in independent living skills and supports all leadership skills development.
Reinforces positive behaviors and holds students accountable for negative actions and activities.
Assists the Residential Counselors to maintain shift logs, data entry and reports any unusual or critical incidents, activities or facility issues to superiors immediately.
Supports Residential Counselors, Sr. Residential Counselors and other team members in providing effective services to students on their assigned dorm assignments.
Acts as a member of a team with assigned dormitory by completing assigned shift duties and communicating all shift specific information appropriately.
Supports all residential, maintenance and security monitoring activities in the dorm facility areas.
Skills/Competencies: Ability to relate to and work with disadvantaged youth
Proven customer service skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to meet frequent deadlines and handle stressful, hectic situations without loss of efficiency and composure
Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel and Outlook, etc.
Education requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Some college preferred.
Experience
Residential experience in a group home or college dormitory setting and Job Corps experience preferred.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
