About the role

The tutor will deliver high-impact literacy instruction to K-3 students in one-on-one or small group settings. They will support students throughout the school year within local elementary schools during the school day.

Join AmeriCorps Nextcelerate, a paid service opportunity through Virginia Learns, where you’ll deliver high-impact literacy tutoring to K–3 students in Richmond Public Schools elementary schools. What You’ll Do: Tutor one-on-one or small groups of early readers using research-backed methods Support students throughout the school year within local elementary schools during the school day Help close the literacy achievement gap affecting students What You’ll Gain: Twice monthly living allowance ($18,500 or $24,000 for the program year, depending on member type) Comprehensive training and onboarding Real-world classroom experience Micro-credential in High-Impact Tutoring Ongoing coaching & professional development Financial education award for student loans or future tuition Start Date: September 2026 Schedule: Monday - Friday Hours: Approximately 29/wk Location: Richmond Public Schools elementary schools
