- District: Synchronized Skating Coach (Part-Time, Year-Round) Glenview Community Ice Center "Recreate" a better life with a career in the field of Parks & Recreation! The Synchronized Skating Coach is responsible for on- and off-ice coaching of Glenview Blades Synchronized Skating Teams. Currently, we field six teams with almost 90 skaters in a growing organization. The coach communicates team aspects with the Figure Skating Director. They will help lead the synchronized skating program in a safe and professional manner, and within all rules and regulations of Glenview Park District, the Glenview Blades, U.S. Figure Skating and other appropriate governing bodies. JOB SUMMARY This position participates in the administration and organization of the

- Skating program, to include: Attract and recruit team skaters Attend all assigned practices (both on- and off-ice), competitions (local and any travel if applicable), exhibitions, shows, trainings, team building events, tryouts, clinics, meetings and other scheduled performances Manage team communication related to practice scheduling, tryouts and skater placement (swing skater/alternates, if applicable), music selection, choreography, video breakdown and review, apparel ordering, costume design, hair and makeup and competition itineraries Oversee TeamSnap account and schedule for team-related communication with parents or skaters Help lead team orientations, dress fittings, parent meetings and form completion dates
- Lead beginning, mid- and end of season 1:1 skater meetings with parents and skater Work with parent advisory board volunteers and synchronized skating coordinators to help coordinate competition meals and team parent responsibilities during competitions Coordinate team travel with synchronized skating coordinators Troubleshoot parent/skater/coaching concerns (in-person, phone, email, etc.) and escalate all parent concerns and feedback to the Figure Skating Director Assist parent advisory board with planning team events throughout the season and end of season party Assist with schedules – communicates and coaches summer synchronized skating program Coach a minimum of two Learn-to-Skate classes for two sessions (for a total of four classes) during the calendar year and/or participate in choreographing and working the annual ice show QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have 3-5 years of experience in continuing education in synchronized skating coaching, including synchronized skating formats for U.S. Figure Skating and/or Learn to Skate USA. Active membership in a professional association is desirable (PSA, U.S. Figure Skating), maintaining continuing education and certifications in synchronized skating. Must have a valid driver’s license. SCHEDULING & PAY This is a part-time, year-round position, beginning with tryouts and recruitment (Spring 2025), summer skating and in-season training. Approximately 1-3 on- and off-ice practices per week, with 1-4 hours of coach administrative planning time per week (varies throughout the season). Season schedule, including competitions, exhibitions and season kick-off meeting, will be provided prior to the start of the season, subject to changes at the discretion of the Skating Director. The pay rate for this position is $28-$33/hour for on-ice coaching, depending on qualifications and $17-$19/hour for off-ice administrative planning time. Competition and competition-related travel is compensated based on a stipend as indicated in the season’s coach commitment agreement. The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at Glenview Community Ice Center including Learn to Skate Instructor, Facility Operations, Customer Service or other positions are available.
