  • About this opportunity: Provides quality participant experience in sporting activities, camps, events, and games at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. Leads and encourages all ages of participants. Designs instructional programs and demonstrates proper techniques for advancement and goal attainment.
  • Key responsibilities: Instructs youth participating in sports teams with sound principles and skills; teaches rules, techniques, strategy, and teamwork. Ensures safety, progression, and compliance with established policies and procedures; informs supervisor of any issues as they arise. Determines and provides team goals for development in each practice. Assess athletes’ skills and monitors players during practice and competition; provides feedback to participants regarding individual progress from children through adults. Maintains and models professionalism with officials, spectators, athletes, adults, and staff. Determines equipment, supplies and uniforms to be procured from vendors; collaborates with supervisor to order needed supplies; distribute and inventory equipment as required. Ensures athlete retention; maintains awareness of existing and upcoming programs; communicates effectively with athletes and parents to promote the sports programs. Maintains a safe working environment, reports facility issues to the proper colleague. Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor, including abiding by uniform requirements.

  • Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminished performance. Must be able to bend, squat, twist, and stand, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position. Must be physically able to give emergency care if a situation arises. Work is performed in an outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in temperature as well as discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
