About the position

As an Adult Day Program Instructor, you will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by leading structured activities, teaching life skills, and promoting independence in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. This is a hands-on role focused on direct support, skill-building, and meaningful engagement in both center-based and community-based settings.

You will work closely with participants of varying abilities, ensuring services are person-centered, respectful, and aligned with each individual’s goals and preferences.

What You'll Do

  • Program Activities & Engagement
  • Lead and facilitate daily activities including arts and crafts, music, games, exercise, cooking, and educational activities
  • Plan and support community outings and recreational activities
  • Encourage participation, engagement, and social interaction among clients
  • Life Skills Development
  • Teach and reinforce daily living skills such as self-care, hygiene, money management, communication, and problem-solving
  • Support individuals in building independence and confidence in everyday tasks
  • Adapt instruction to meet varying ability levels and learning styles
  • Direct Support & Care
  • Provide hands-on support to individuals with IDD in a respectful and person-centered manner
  • Assist clients as needed with mobility, behavior support, and daily routines
  • Promote dignity, choice, and independence in all interactions
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of daily activities, attendance, and client progress
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with program and regulatory standards
  • Communicate client observations and concerns to supervisory staff
  • Team Collaboration & Training
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure consistent and high-quality services
  • Follow program guidelines, safety procedures, and behavior support plans
  • Transportation & Community Support
  • Drive Arc vehicles to transport clients to community activities and outings as needed
  • Ensure safe transportation practices and supervision at all times

Physical Requirements

  • Must pass a post offer pre-employment background check, non-arduous physical, drug/TB screen
  • Ability to travel locally to meet with clients, partners, or attend events, if applicable.
