These roles are for our spring event season which includes Adult Camp (May 21st – May 25th) and Family Camp (May 29th – May 31st). JOB SUMMARY Coaches and Zone Coaches are vital to the overall success of the Camp Program. In this position, you will be expected to perform one of these roles each shift your scheduled. Each of these roles carries a different focus with each contributing to the overall camper experience. The Coach is primarily responsible for supporting and tracking the daily progression and development of each camper in their assigned instruction group. Coaches also host or assist with clinics each day and support program events. As a Coach, your goal is to ensure a high level of training and progression, making sure campers are engaged and progressing in a safe manner. The Zone Coach is responsible for the safety, cleanliness and fun of the action sports facilities. Zone Coaches will actively attend to one (1) action sports zone at a time, ensuring it is ready for use during open ride sessions. As a Zone Coach, your goal is to create an inviting, upbeat and welcoming atmosphere while engaging with campers and supporting their progression as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Attend and participate in all staff trainings and meetings to acquire all relevant and needed information. Adhere to all standards, practices and policies set by the Skateboard Program and Woodward PA. Responsible for the safety, support and well-being of up to 14 campers each week Effectively carry out all aspects of the Skateboard Curriculum as assigned based on role. Create a cohesive & positive experience among all campers in your care. Ensure campers are acting responsibly, respectfully and following all camp standards. Report all camper challenges and violations to the Leadership team. Support as needed. Communicate with the medical team effectively in event of an injury. Support as needed. Support in the routine safety inspections and cleanliness of camp facilities as assigned. Report all safety concerns immediately to your direct Supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Role-Specific
Duties and Responsibilities
Coaches – Actively supervise/manage your assigned group (+/-8). Develop lesson plans to ensure campers learn new skills and meet goals utilizing Woodward's progression tools and WIPS system. Evaluate campers daily and provide meaningful feedback to ensure growth individually and as a group. Zone Coaches – Ensure zone is clean, free of all trash & debris, hazards and is safe for open ride sessions at all times. Provide open instruction, engage with campers and ensure all safety standards are met. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Has the ability to take direction and uphold the company's values Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision, agile, and able to pivot quickly. Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and accountability. Comfortable handling confidential information. Successful working in an independent and team environment. Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of people. QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications Provide work related references upon request Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-hire background checks, including criminal history clearance through the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH), child abuse clearance through the Department of Public Welfare, Motor Vehicle Record if required by position and federal background screening via FBI fingerprinting
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens Experience working in a camp environment is preferred. High School degree or equivalent preferred Experience in Skateboard coaching preferred PRE-REQUISITES Must have or be able to obtain the following prior to starting work: Woodward will supply information to assist you in obtaining these if needed. Mandated Reporter Training Certificate Safesport Training Certificate PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working in an outdoor and indoor all-season environment. Adhere to all workplace safety practices, expectations, and guidelines.
