Job description

  • Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council (GSACPC) is a non-profit organization that serves 13,000 girls in grades K-12 across central and northern Arizona.
  • We believe Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
  • With the help of over 8,000 incredible adult volunteers, we provide girls with a sense of belonging and create safe spaces for them to try new things.

  • The purpose of the GS Impact team is to empower and uplift the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by providing equitable access to a safe space where girls can celebrate their unique self.
  • Through working in partnership with communities, families, and volunteers, we aim to overcome barriers and develop an inclusive environment for girls to champion change in the world.

The Justice Program Specialist is responsible for providing and implementing quality programs to girl members in alignment with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) and other GSUSA and GSACPC initiatives. This individual will focus primarily on providing a robust staff-supported Girl Scout experience for girls in our youth and adult justice programs. They will actively promote and support the mission and goals of Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).

Sr. Manager, Multicultural Services

FLSA Status: Part-time, non-exempt

Scheduling

  • 20-25 hours per week -
  • Mon,
  • Thurs: 2pm - 7pm,
  • Tues,
  • Wed,
  • Fri: 10am - 3pm,
  • Sat: 7am - 3pm. (A minimum of 2 Saturdays per month required)

Essential Functions

  • Program Responsibilities
  • Assist in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girls through delivery of quality curricula, events, and additional resources as driven by community needs.
  • Ensure the implementation of programs in accordance with the GSLE delivery model and adaptive to the needs of girls in diverse and underserved communities.
  • Serve as a program facilitator for justice partnership programs including Arizona State Prison Complex – Perryville, MCSO, Adobe Mountain School, Durango Juvenile Detention Center, and Pinal County Youth Justice Center.

  • Work collaboratively with GS Southern Arizona to facilitate joint programming for GSBB program at ASPC – Perryville.
  • Partner with Program Coordinator in program development, staffing, and logistics for assigned program sites.
  • Plan and support additional events and opportunities for girls such as field trips and outings.
    • Recruitment Responsibilities
    • Support program recruitment and expansion efforts to increase program impact.
    • Actively engage adult volunteers to assist with programs in various locations to engage families in Girl Scouts, when possible.
    • Strategize ways to best use technological platforms to provide an engaging Girl Scout experience when necessary.
    • Partner with the Council Recruitment Team and Member Support Executives (MSEs) to staff and facilitate activities at community recruitment events and parties, as needed.
    • Additional Responsibilities
    • Provide safe transportation for girl members when necessary.
    • Support communications between GS Impact families and community stakeholders.
    • Complete and maintain appropriate council training such as First Aid training, Troop Camp Certification, etc.
    • Instruct volunteers and girls in established emergency procedures such as fire drills, site evacuation, etc.
    • Ensure the maintenance of health and safety standards.
    • Utilize technology to ensure the maintenance of all records.
    • Assist with other duties as assigned.

    Competencies

    • Commitment to and understanding the importance of being a professional role model.
    • Attitude and behavior consistent with the core competencies, core values and beliefs of the organization.
    • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Girl Scout program.
    • Demonstrated maturity, sound judgement, integrity, and flexibility; able to think and act calmly in a crisis.
    • Ability to communicate effectively to work with both girls and adults who encompass the full spectrum of diversity.
    • Ability to coordinate a multi-project workload, to exercise initiative and be an effective team leader/member.
    • Successful experience in planning and implementing programs.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification (provided).
    • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

    Required Education and Experience

    • High school diploma, some college preferred.
    • Experience working in educational or recreational settings preferred.
    • Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds in diverse settings a plus.

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    • Minimum 21 years of age.
    • Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
    • Must be able to pass multiple background checks and complete various site requirements based on partner’s needs.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide documentation of a clean driving history.
    • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds without difficulty
    • Must be able to sit at a computer terminal up to three hours at a time; must be able to stand for one to 2-1/2 hours per day
