Job Description

  • The Student Success Navigator – College of Technology plays a vital role in supporting prospective and current students throughout their educational journey by providing expert guidance in identifying appropriate degree pathways, facilitating admission, supporting retention, and ensuring successful program completion. Working closely with students, the navigator supports both Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) and select Career and Technical Education (CTE) Health Occupations programs, including assisting students in navigating the unique structure of BAS degrees through the integration of CTE and academic coursework, coordinating the assignment of faculty advisors, and supporting the development of individualized degree plans aligned with institutional requirements and student career goals. By understanding each student’s prior education, credentials, and professional aspirations, the navigator provides tailored direction and serves as a central point of contact, collaborating with academic departments, faculty, and advising units to ensure a seamless student experience. Overall, the Student Success Navigator fosters a supportive and structured environment that empowers students to make informed decisions, navigate complex degree pathways, and successfully achieve their academic and professional goals. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized guidance to students in selecting programs and courses that match their interests, values, abilities, and prior education, facilitating successful career pathways.
  • Oversee the admission process for assigned programs, including Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) and select Career and Technical Education (CTE) Health Occupations programs.
  • Provide comprehensive advisement to College of Technology students, addressing program-specific requirements and majors through one-on-one meetings and in-class cohort advising interventions.
  • Assist BAS students in navigating the integration of CTE and academic coursework, including the development of individualized degree plans aligned with institutional requirements and career goals.
  • Support administrative functions of BAS programs, including coordinating advisor assignments, maintaining student records related to degree plans, and documenting meetings and program decisions to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Coordinate the assignment of faculty advisors for BAS students and collaborate with advisors to support student progression and completion.
  • Communicate college and university policies effectively, helping students navigate administrative guidelines and degree requirements.
  • Collaborate with faculty and departments, including Health Occupations and technical programs, to resolve student issues and support program completion.
  • Regularly consult with program coordinators, faculty, and department chairs regarding admission requirements, student capacity, curriculum alignment, and student success outcomes.
  • Provide advising support for appeals processes, including reinstatements and academic adjustments.
  • Assist students with required document completion, streamlining administrative procedures and supporting timely progression toward graduation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • At least one (1) year experience working with high school or college students in any of the following capacities: college admissions, college advising, recruiting, mentoring, counseling.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex policies and procedures, including academic and program requirements.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Strong multitasking and task prioritization abilities with attention to detail.
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to engage effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in academic advising, student support services, or development of individualized plans (e.g., degree planning or program mapping).
  • Proficiency in computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Docs) and internet resources.
  • Strong analytical and reflective thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage records and track student progress.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and adept problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience assisting students with higher education academic planning in a college setting, including development of individualized degree plans.
  • Experience working with non-traditional, transfer, or adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with students, exhibiting personal warmth and a student-centered approach.
  • Knowledge of programs within the College of Technology, including Career and Technical Education (CTE) and/or Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) programs.
  • Familiarity with student support initiatives and funding opportunities such as Idaho Launch.

Additional Information

Salary will be between $49,750 and $53,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
