  • Summary: The MS Girls Volleyball Coach is responsible for leading practices and coaching MS Girls Volleyball during the season. This role supports the athletic and personal development of student-athletes by promoting teamwork, skill-building, and sportsmanship in a positive and inclusive environment. The position collaborates closely with the Athletics and After-School department to align with school values and ensure a safe, engaging experience for all participants.

  • Responsibilities: Plans and leads all volleyball practices for the middle school girls teaching age-appropriate volleyball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies. Coaches all scheduled games, including travel to away games, while positively representing St. Thomas School. Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual skill development, and supports player growth aligned with program expectations and core competencies. Ensures the safety, supervision, and well-being of all student-athletes. Communicates clearly with players, families, and the school community about schedules, expectations, and team progress. Partners with the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs to support program goals and team culture. Manages equipment, as well as oversees set up and cleanup for practices and games. Upholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS. Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion. Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion. Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and After-School Programs.
  • QualificationsRequirements and
  • Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in education, coaching, or a related field preferred. 1+ years of experience coaching volleyball, or equivalent playing experience, preferably with Middle School–age students. Knowledge of youth athletic development, including age-appropriate skill building and sportsmanship. Demonstrated ability to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment. Ability to actively supervise student-athletes both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions. Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as bending, crouching, or sitting on the ground. Readiness to obtain First Aid/CPR certification, and maintain throughout employment Successful completion of required background checks in accordance with school policy and state regulations. Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset. Proficiency with basic technology tools and a willingness to learn school-specific systems. Commitment to the mission, values, and community of STS.
