JOB PURPOSE The Employment Support Specialist provides direct support, coaching, and training to individuals with disabilities at community-based job sites. This role focuses on job readiness, skill development, and workplace integration, ensuring a positive and supportive employment experience.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide direct, on-the-job coaching and support.
Assist individuals in learning job tasks, workplace expectations, and social skills.
Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and reinforcement.
Support individuals in developing soft skills such as communication, time management, and teamwork.
Monitor and document individual progress, challenges, and support strategies.
Maintain positive relationships with employers, families, and support teams.
Ensure individual safety and compliance with workplace policies.
Advocate for reasonable workplace accommodations as needed.
All other duties assigned.
& SKILLS Must be 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED is required. No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Patience and enthusiasm. Ability to provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and any subsequent background check after employment. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Missouri Class E chauffeur’s license within 14 days of hire. Successfully complete employment-related training as directed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to travel between job sites and community locations with RISE vehicles. Frequent standing, walking, and engaging in physical activities at work sites. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently and perform team lifts when necessary. Flexibility to work varied hours, including mornings and afternoons, based on program needs.
