Job description

Family Haven is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to building a community of happy, healthy individuals and families through the prevention and treatment of child abuse and trauma. With locations in Orem and Lehi, we provide a range of family support programs designed to strengthen relationships and promote long-term well-being.

This education internship offers a hands-on opportunity to support our educational programs for parents and children. Interns assist with teaching group parenting classes, providing one-on-one parent coaching, delivering school-based abuse prevention education, and supporting our Parent Leadership Committee. This role is ideal for students interested in gaining practical experience in education, social services, or family support while making a meaningful impact in the community.

What You’ll Be Doing

Teach group parenting classes using Family Haven’s evidence-based curriculum Provide one-on-one parent coaching and support using the parenting curriculum Deliver school-based abuse prevention education lessons to students Assist and support the Parent Leadership Committee in planning and implementing initiatives.

Qualifications

Students with coursework in Education, Family Sciences, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields Enrollment in a program is preferred but not required; relevant coursework is required Commitment of at least 12 weeks, up to a maximum of two semesters Availability to participate in-person, primarily evenings (5–8 PM) and some daytime hours Expectation of approximately 10-12 hours per week

Supervision

Interns are supported by the Education Director or a member of her team, who provide guidance and feedback throughout the internship
