Position Overview
The 1
- 1 Aide is specifically responsible for assisting in the supervision and care of a student with special medical needs in the general education setting.
- The 1:1 aide will assist with supporting the student during the regular school day under the direct supervision of classroom teachers, the School Nurse, and Director of Operations.
Duties/Responsibilities
Implement all aspects of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and provide the necessary support and monitoring to help the student manage their identified needs while remaining in the classroom to access learning.
Acts as a mandated reporter to ensure the safety of the students.
Adapts classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and meeting IEP goals.
Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting student needs in the classroom.
Implements all aspects of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and provide the necessary support and monitoring needed to help the student manage their diabetes while remaining in the classroom to access learning.
Assists students to attend to the student’s personal hygiene and care needs.
Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
