- Level: 4 Year DegreeSaint Edward’s School seeks a passionate and experienced Pre-K Teacher to join our Lower School community. Grounded in a commitment to academic excellence and character development, our early childhood program nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in a joyful and supportive environment. The ideal candidate is an engaging educator who understands the developmental needs of young children and brings current or recent experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood classroom. This individual will foster a classroom culture rooted in exploration, kindness, and respect. Teaching Duties Design and implement a developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports the whole child. Create a warm, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment where children feel known and valued. Lead daily instruction through a balance of structured learning, inquiry, and purposeful play. Support students’ social-emotional growth, independence, and positive peer relationships. Observe, assess, and document student progress to inform instruction and communicate growth. Partner with families through clear, consistent, and thoughtful communication. Collaborate closely with grade-level colleagues, assistants, and Lower School leadership. Contribute positively to the life of the school community. Familiarity with play-based, inquiry-driven, and workshop-style learning. QualificationsPreferred Qualifications Must hold a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field from an accredited college or university. Current or recent teaching experience in a Pre-K or early childhood classroom – strongly preferred. Deep understanding of early childhood development and best practices. Strong classroom management skills rooted in positivity and respect. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Teaching certification in early childhood education (preferred – not required). Experience in an independent school setting. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Works in a stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment. Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
